After Montreal (2016) and Prague (2018), the third international Circus and its Others conference is taking place from November 4-7, 2021!

Initially planned as an in-person gathering in November 2020 at the University of California, Davis, in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic we rescheduled the conference to these November 2021 dates, hoping at that point for the conference to remain face-to-face. Now, in light of the challenges related to the increasing presence of new Covid variants in the US, we have made difficult decision to shift to a fully online conference.  As we write, borders remain closed to many travelers, visas remain difficult to obtain, and quarantines and other restrictions remain a reality for many practitioners and scholars who would, in other circumstances, be gathering in California for the multiple components of the Circus and its Others event.

Happily, we know that the participants in the Circus and its Others inquiries are a creative group who wish to continue our inquiries and explorations. The shift to digital, we are convinced, is a way to keep us all connected and is thus a way to advance our understandings of our art, work, and scholarship.

In other words, we’re still on! We still will have our conference November 4-7, 2021, digitally!

We are in the process of mapping out some of the exact contours of our meeting, drawing on the skills of talented partners along the way.  We know already that we wish for extended and multiple forms of engagement.

Watch this page for announcements for platforms and schedules.  Come back often as we do our updates!
